Sehwag – A Legend writes his OWN script!

It is my pleasure to write today amidst hectic schedule. It took only one session for Srilanka to remove the six wickets. Mendis again bowled his best and had taken a career best 6-for. Who in the world cares about the lower order failing to pick Mendis mantra when the Indian Legends themselves could not crack the code.

Now it is time to focus on the Man who made the match worth watching Live. It’s none other than “Virender Sehwag”. Here ya go! What a player! I coud not even dare to dream of any other player who would have refused a single to reach 200 and also tried to play reverse-sweep on 199 batting with No.11 on the other end, having the best firing opposition bowlers bowling in tandem. He is undoubtedly the DARE DEVIL. A True Team Player… 

When he scored the single off the last ball, it showed his true mettle which he had shown two balls earlier. He is no more a no brainer and within a week, he has shown the world what he is after his poor run at SSC. He has scored his 5th double equalling Rahul, one of the Fab Four and is only the second Indian to carry the bat scoring a double after Sunny Gavaskar.

After an early wicket down for SriLanka now, they have a long way to go! I am signing off for now!

சக்கரகட்டி – Sakkarakatti Music Review

Team wonder!

Here comes A.R. Rahman…a man who breathes music…speaks music…lives music…
How sweet it is! He creates magic. he re-innovates the beauty of music. he composes a soulful masterpiece. Sakkarakatti is nothing short of a magnum opus, in terms of its music. This will definitely pull in the cine-goers. Kalaipuli has roped in the best in the business – music legend, A.R. Rahman, to bring a simple touch of music to Sakkarakatti…and what a touch it is.
            Going through a dry-spell in 2008,  A.R. Rahman has his first major Tamil release in 2008 now(Follows- Sultan the warrior and சென்னையில் ஒரு மழைக்காலம்) ! Thus came the summary…and so the deliverance of சக்கரகட்டி as winter for music lovers.
            With a tagline as “Cho..chweet…” Sakkarakatti with the budget and efforts made, this film has the full potential of being a super-hit. let’s just see how good the music is……….

 

1) சின்னம்மா….   Chinmayi, Benny                Lyrics: பா. விஜய்
            A Reused ARR song! The line சின்னம்மா சிலக்கம்மா is so catchy that you’ll be tapping your feet before you even know it! The lucky voice that will be featured on this Rahman rhythm are “ Rahman Finds’ ” Chinmayi and Benny..the latest sensation. This full-throated song about love and lust has enough potential to be among the top tracks if promoted well and aggressively.One of Rahman’s Tamil certain hits. It’s an excellent mixture of western beats fused together with folk. As odd as it may sound, Rahman once again weaves his magical touch all over this one to create another chart-busting hit.

            This piece is initiated by one of Rahman’s favorite instruments, the flute. He then leads the pan flute to blend into the opening line and here on out begins a simply awesome number. The heavy drumming coped together with some of Rahman’s signature electrical beats back up the western aspect of the song, while the traditional flute and percussions, along with the lyrics of Chinnamma Chilakkamma, round up this a definite winner all the way. பட்டி தொட்டியெங்கும் ஒலிக்கும்!

2) நான் எப்போது….- Reena Bharadwaj          Lyrics: பா.விஜய்

            ‘நான் எப்போது‘ should be the first shot of Sakkarakatti and should be heroine’s solo entrance piece. marvelous track that boasts of great vocals, wonderful music, pleasant locales, breath-taking cinematography and thoughtful lyrics! The track has variations and the singer does full justice to the nuances and subtlety of the track.
            This refreshing melody song starts off on a beautiful note and never lets down. The beautiful note is the voice of intoxicating Reena Bharadwaj…another Rahman Find who debutted for the same song in 2004. Her opening line,  is as soothing as running water and just bewilders you. Her rendition of the entire track is superb, but in particular the feeling with which she sings the title line “நான் எப்போது” is perfect. Speaking of perfect, A.R. Rahman simply amazes!

The way he builds the beat of a tabla-like drum throughout the entire song is uncanny and sets a pace at which Reena sings with ease. Reaching a midpoint in the song, begins the unique integration of strings nicely. To top it all off, Rahman superimposes a synthesized beat into the background that only adds to the flavor of this colorful track. Just when you think that it can’t get any better, the Genius adds the sound of flowing water to accompany Reena Bharadwaj, creating the most peaceful effect. Lyrically, பா.விஜய் excels. Throughout the song, he proves to be a top-notch lyricist by bringing words and emotions to life.
ரீனாவும் வீணாவும் super! An Instant Hit! Rating for this melody: 4.95/5

 

3) I Miss You Da….   Chinmayi, Indai Haza         Lyrics: நா. முத்துக்குமார்
      என்னே oru ‘எமினே….’ Opening. நான் தூக்கத்தை தொலைக்கும் குரலில் சின்மயி  பாடியிருக்கிறார்! In a joyful erotic tone, this is a song at its brilliant best. கையில கிடைச்ச எல்லா instruments..ம்ம் வச்சு பின்னி எடுத்திருக்கிறார், தலைவர்! எப்படிதான் இப்படிலாம்  நச்..னு பாட்டு போடுவாரோ! உட்கார்ந்து ரூம் போட்டு யோசிப்பாரோ! நா. முத்துக்குமார்க்கு வார்த்தை வறட்சி போல??! Song of the Season!

A.R.Rahman has hummed for this, which has been rendered by Madhushree. Azhagaana vegamaana melody! செந்தமிழ் பாட்டு தந்த வாலிக்கும், அதை தேனில் கலந்து தந்த madhushree க்கும் பாராட்டுக்கள்! Third Female solo in this movie! Madhushree – You have made the best efforts here! Still, நீங்க கொஞ்சம் சாதனா சர்கம்..கிட்ட தமிழ் உச்சரிப்புக்கு tuition போகலாம்!
A.R.Rahman ஒரு முழு பாடல் பாடி இருக்கலாம் என்பதை நினைவூட்டும் பாடல்!

5) ஏலேய்          Krish, Naresh Iyer                   Lyrics: நா. முத்துக்குமார்
தலைவர் repeat போடற அழகே தனி! The violin and the guitars and quick beats in the background attract us even more than the singers themselves. I just love this song! நா. முத்துக்குமார் back at his best! Eventhough it’s at the best, என்னவோ தெரியலை  அதிகமா இங்கிலீஷ் words. Still o.k, situation demands I believe! Krish, naresh – ரெண்டு பயல்களும் நம்ம ஊருகாரனுங்க மாதிரி பாடி அசத்திட்டாங்கோ!

Starting..ஏ sehwag மாதிரி அதிரடி! Blaaze in a blazing start!  Opening..லாம் சரி! போக..போக Finishing எப்படி இருக்கிறதுன்னு பார்ப்போம்..னு பார்த்தா, வாயை பொளக்க வச்சுட்டாங்க!
Typical youth chartbuster.Sounds like “Paapu can’t dance”. Full of Blaaze’s Rap, Vivian’s oohlalas. A Singers special! Hip-Hop is definite Top Class போங்க! !

            Without a doubt, this is A.R. Rahman’s one of the best musical score of his career. This Musical Genius is now an international force to reckon with. With beautiful locations and great CG, Sakkarakatti will truly be a sight for the eyes to feast on and an intonation for the ears to savor.

            Rahman is back as usual with his vintage touch in Sakkarakatti hence his fans should have enough reasons to go for this one. ‘Sakkarakatti’ is a MUST for all the lovers of simple yet effective music.

 

VERDICT:
சாந்தனுவுக்கும், கலாபிரபுவுக்கும் வானளாவ புகழ் கொடுக்கப் போகும் படம்! An album that has all the typical elements of Rahman– peppy, melody, folk and Fresh. ஒளிப்பதிவு அற்புதமாக இருக்கும் பட்சத்தில், தமிழ்நாடே அதிரும்!
Overall, For my darling Chinmayi and the Legend இசைப்புயல் himself who reminds everyone “I AM BEST“… நான் கொடுக்கிற STAR – 5/5.
மொத்தத்துல இந்த பட பாட்டுக்களை பத்தி சொல்லணும்னா,

இங்கு நான் என்னை பற்றி எழுத கிடைத்த கதை பெரிய கதை! உலகமே வியக்கும் கதை! தனக்குரிய வேலையை விட்டுவிட்டு தன் கதையை சொல்கிறானே என்ற கேள்வி எழலாம்! இந்த கதையை படித்துக்கொண்டிருக்கும் நீங்களும் ஒரு முக்கிய பாத்திரம்! என்னை பற்றிய கதை நெறைய உண்டு! அதை சுருங்கச் சொன்னாலும், 25 வருடங்களாவது பின்னோக்கி போக வேண்டும்! So, 1983!  இந்திரா காந்தி இந்தியாவை ஆண்ட காலம்! MS WINDOWS உலகில் நுழையாத காலம்!

August 26, 1983 வெள்ளிக்கிழமை இரவு 10 மணி – அம்பாசமுத்திரம்:

And my Friends now call me,”ஆனந்த்“.  பேர்சொல்லும் பிள்ளை!.. J

உயிர் கசிய வாய்திறந்து அம்மா என்றழைக்கும் ……..பெருகிவரும் பரிவுக்குப் பெருமையொன்று கிடைக்கும் ……பேர்சொல்லும் பிள்ளையென பூமியெல்லாம் அழைக்கும்!……!

இன்று தறுதலையாய்(சில பேருக்கு) அல்லது பெருந்தலையாய்(பல பேருக்கு), நான்! 

 

சக்கரகட்டி – வருது..வருது!

The much awaited audio release of the movie ‘சக்கரகட்டி‘ with music by one of India’s finest talents, A.R.Rahman is slated tomorrow. Big time directors in the form of K.B, Bharathiraja, Mahendran, Balu Mahendra, SP Muthuraman, Bala, Dharani, Vikraman, Murugadoss, Cheran, Radha Mohan and of course Bhagyaraj are expected.

 

I am pretty much eager to hear the intensity and effectiveness of the songs composed by A.R.Rahman

 

Another interesting piece of information is that A.R.Rahman has hummed for a song titled ‘மருதாணி‘ which has been rendered by Madhushree. It can be recalled that all the songs that have the musician’s humming have gone on to be huge chart toppers like ‘சின்ன சின்ன ஆசை‘ in ‘ரோஜா‘ and ‘சண்டகோழி கோழி‘ in ‘ஆயுத எழுத்து‘.

My VOTE FOR the Nuclear Deal!

There is nothing more important for the 400 million middle-class people in India than relief from daily power outages. They are not alone in their anger. Industrialists, farmers and other low-income groups also support them.

Unless the power crisis is overcome, the overall national economic growth will end weak, making India’s failure China’s gain, and causing China to become an even greater darling of the world.

 இந்த dealing எனக்கு பிடிச்சிருக்கு:  

 * No interference in India ’s nuclear programme for military purposes.

 * US will help India negotiate with the IAEA for an India-specific fuel supply agreement and develop strategic reserves of nuclear fuel to guard against future disruption of supply.

 * Facilitate nuclear trade and to transfer Sensitive nuclear technology, nuclear material(low enriched uranium), non-nuclear material, equipment and major critical components.  

 * Include research, development, design, construction, operation, maintenance and use of nuclear reactors, reactor experiments and decommissioning.

 * India would obtain full access to the international fuel market and will establish a new national facility dedicated to reprocessing safeguarded nuclear material

 * The US will have the right to seek return of nuclear fuel and technology but it will compensate for the costs incurred as a consequence of such removal. * Consultations on the circumstances, including changed security environment, before termination of the nuclear cooperation.

Finally the Legend “FED EX” is not “The reigning Champion” in Wimbledon. But still, he is the GRASS COURT KING!!!

Federer just missed the magic touch today and missed his sixth.. He will be seeing off everyone in U.S Open!

Oh..of course, Nadal deserves this win today!

தலை போல வருமா?!

சூப்பர்ஸ்டாருக்கு என்ன ஆயிற்று என்றே தெரியவில்லை? அவர் நடிக்கும் அல்லது நடிக்கப் போகும் படங்களின் பட்டியல் மளமளவென நீளத் தொடங்கி இருக்கிறது. `சினிமா தியேட்டர்களின் வெள்ளித்திரைகளை `குசேலன்‘ விரைவில் முத்தமிட இருக்கும் நிலையில், `ரோபோ’, SULTAN THE WARRIOR’ என்று பல அவதாரங்களை எடுக்க இருக்கிறார் சூப்பர் ஸ்டார். இந்தநிலையில்தான், திருவள்ளுவர் வேடத்தில் ரஜினி நடிக்கப்போகிறார் என்ற புதிய தகவலால் பூரித்துப் போயிருக்கிறார்கள் ரஜினி ரசிகர்கள். கூடவே கோடம்பாக்கமும் குஷி மூடில் இருக்கிறது.

“WANTED” – Movie Review

 

செல்லமே!.....லவ் யுடா!

  

This movie stands as a stunning solid summer entertainment FORCE of Angelina Jolie(named FOX) who has made me to have sleepless weekends now. I LOVE ANGELINA. C’Mon SweetHeart! I am in Beaverton! Gimme a Hug!

Before “Wanted” reaches the end of its wild course, the violence that’s been nothing but Severe becomes genuinely impressive.

The film, based on the series of comic books, evokes a secret FRATERNITY of assassins founded a thousand years ago by a clan of weavers. Why would weavers do such a thing? There are secret messages contained in the textiles from a mill to kill people.

The fraternity includes Morgan Freeman(leader) — he has a meaty role here — and a less-than-fraternal Angelina Jolie, who does lots with her patented exciting lower lip smiles, but also figures, gorgeously, in several sensational action sequences. When she stylishly delivers the punch dialogue “Kill One! Save a Thousand!”,I was at bay.  

Wesley Gibson, played by James McAvoy is a formidable star with strong ‘F’ language as an account manager,turns an assassin. So, too, does the director, Timur Bekmambetov, strikes his action along mercilessly, but with spectacular results.

And that Wes was recruited into the Fraternity group because his severe emotion result from a superheated metabolism that gives superpowers. Freeman and Jolie wanted him to be a lean mean fighting machine and they train him hard to avenge his estranged dad’s death. Luckily, The cuts and bruises Wesley suffers during training can be healed almost instantaneously by soaking in a wax-like bath. Towards the end, he realizes the dangerous plot against him by the fraternity and takes revenge by setting things up. Wesley does exceptionally well especially in the brave shuttle-grabbing scene.

In a shooting + car chase sequence, when Jolie went berserk on top of the Red Viper’s hood, the crowd would have turned crazy if in India. She was equally magnificient when she drove the black Audi SUV. Looked hot and much slimmer after the wax-bath scene-when she says ”Prepare, man! Five minutes!” .

I just loved her speeding train surfing. Enjoy the great visuals, amazing sequences and some terrific performances.

The screenplay when analyzed in good terms is scintillating with curving Bullets around obstacles(Inspired by Beckham?!), LCD machine gun and ofcourse, the instruments of the climax violence include a garbage truckload of rats who, overeaten peanut butter, rushes forward with little time bombs strapped on their backs and blow the assasins territory.

In the midway, I just felt the star cast is bit overqualified and they could have made the story bit stronger; Ofcourse, this is not a story that goes for Oscar or Pulitzer.

Wanted earns its R-rating with the tracking of every bullet as it rips through flesh, muscle, and bone. The violence in “Wanted” is swift and brutal, not long and sadistic. The movie has a sense of humor too.

Having guessed you people reached the saturation point of my Jolie Craziness, I am signing off.

VERDICT:

A BlockBuster that delivers what action fans desire with artfulness.

My rating for this movie is 4.5/5 (I would have rated  perfect 100%, had my Darling not been shot!).

Kuselan – Music Review

குசேலன் பாட்டு release ஆகி ரெண்டு நாள் கழித்து தான் பாட்டு கேட்டேன்!

பாட்டு கேட்டதுக்கு அப்புறம் எனக்கு தோன்றியது – G.V Prakash is certainly a Budding Ilayaraja and A.R.Rahman(as Rajini said)! Melody..ஐ மொட்டை Style லயும்,Beat songs..ஐ தன்னோட hit..ஐ தனக்கே உரிய சாயலில் REPEAT songs அடிக்கிற தலைவர் இசைப்புயல் Style லயும் போட்டு கலக்கியிருக்கும் Prakash..க்கு ஒரு சபாஷ்! தன்னோட STRENGTH க்கு உழைச்ச அவர், இன்னும் சில படங்களின் அனுபவத்தில், he will become the one of the best.

தலைவரோட ரசிகனா மட்டுமில்லாமல், ஒரு விமர்சகனாகவும் இருந்துதான் இதை விமர்சனம் செய்யுறேன்! Let me review the songs one by one with my ranking 1 to 5:

1. வெள்ளி மழை சாரல்….:

The song that tops my List. Another Stock delivery from Shreya Ghoshal..My favorite! Really articulate – A Nayanthara number! Nice violin….There is no better way to present this. The lyrics are really good except for the whole song should have been in Tamil to my Liking! I visualize this like IshwaryaRai in கொஞ்சும் மைனாக்களே…or வெண்மேகம்..(Guru).தாவணியில் நயன்தாரா - Good thought appreciated! இதுக்கு நான் கொடுக்கிற star – 4.5/5

2. பேரின்ப பேச்சுக்காரன்…:

அரங்கமே அதிரும் – இந்த பாட்டால்…! துளியும் சந்தேகமில்லை! I would like this to be the தலைவரோட opening. மூன்றாவது reel..ல தான், intro – But, waiting for the சரரசரர….கரரகரர……of Kailash. 3. ஓம் zaarere:

தலைவரோட படத்தலைப்புகளால் உருவாக்கப்பட்ட ஒரு அழகான படைப்பு! சித்ராவுக்கும் சாதனாவுக்கும் அல்வா சாப்பிடும் அளவுக்கு இதமான ஒன்று!

Daler mehndi – வர வர நெறைய தமிழ் வாய்ப்புகள் போல! இன்னொரு சுக்விந்தர் சிங்! பல்லே பல்லே!

Gonnabe and it sounds like “சஹானா சாரல் தானா” and “வாஜீ வாஜீ” but not with expensive sets certainly!

இதுக்கு நான் கொடுக்கிற star – 4/5

4. சொல்லம்மா..: Good melody like “உருகுதே“. Duet for pasupathy-meena and talks about their Love. பா.விஜய் செந்தமிழில் பாட்டு எழுதணும்! மனதில் பதிய மறுக்கின்றன, பாடல் வரிகள்! இதுக்கு நான் கொடுக்கிற star – 3/5.

5. Cinema, சினிமா..:

Rajini யோட INTRO song இதுதான் என்றால் இதற்கு கொஞ்சம் பலம் குறைவு என்று தான் சொல்வேன்! S.P.B எங்கே என்று கேட்க வைக்கிறது பாடல்! ஷங்கர் மஹாதேவன், வாலி ரெண்டு பேரும் கொஞ்சம் குறைவா உழைச்சு இருக்காங்கன்னுதான் நினைக்கிறேன்!! But Visuals will aid the song and make it super hit, we can hope! இதுக்கு நான் கொடுக்கிற star – 2.75/5.

On screen viewing will be devastating all the bad reviews about the songs which will be easily taken over and done by the GRACENESS OF THE SUPERSTAR.

Overall, considering the music of the movie and music director நான் கொடுக்கிற STAR – 4/5.
